Notes:

The kanji in Enoko’s name are: 慧ノ子, meaning
“Child of Enlightenment”
But it also means “puppy” on it’s own (a reading of 狗)
It’s the same as the one in
“kushibussho” — 狗子仏性 an expression meaning
“Do dogs have buddha nature?”
The original koan is:

“A monk asked Master Chao-chou, “Has a dog the Buddha Nature or not?” Chao-chou said, “無!”

Where 無 is most easily defined as “nothingness”, but in particular the “nothingness that’s needed in a container to make it a cup.”
