Alegria of Blasphemous Choices – Frost Fragment

4–6 minutes

解けた詩の糸 紡ぎ合わせ
見たことの無い未来
続く頁に願いを添えて捲る
不確かな世界からアレグリア

I wish in my heart 求めていた
雫から得られたこと

I wish to your heart 溺れていた
無条件怠惰な夢に

I wish in my heart 壊れかけた
時間さえ幸福だと

I wish to your heart 思い出さえ
固い床に砕けて消えた

toketa shi no ito tsumugi awase
mita koto no nai mirai
tsuzuku peeji ni negai wo soete makuru futashika na sekai kara areguria

I wish in my heart motometeita shizuku kara erareta koto

I wish to your heart oboreteita mujouken taida na yume ni

I wish in my heart kowarekaketa jikan sae koufuku da to

I wish to your heart omoide sae katai yuka ni kudakete kieta

Unraveled strings of poetry spin together to a never before seen future
Putting my hopes in the immeasurable pages I turned
An Alegria from an uncertain world

I wish in my heart
from these tears I was searching for that something will come from them
I wish to your heart  –
in these unconditionally indolent dreams I was drowning in
I wish in my heart
That just even this broken apart time would be blissful
I wish to your heart
That just even these memories would be shattered on the hard floor

遠い空の色赤く染まる
いつか終わる永遠
誰もが求めたものが些事に変わる
 幸せの定義付け

歌え不条理を嘆き叫ぶ
予定調和に満ちて
僕ら愚かな旅人歩む先は
合理的世界へのアレグリア

tooi sora no iro akaku somaru itsuka owaru eien
daremo ga motometa mono ga saji ni kawaru
shiawase no teigi tsuke

utae fujouri wo nagekisakebu
yotei chouwa ni michite
bokura oroka na tabibito ayumu saki wa gouriteki sekai he no areguria

The faraway sky stains red[1]
An eternity that will one day end
The things that everyone searched for
turn to but trifles
With the definition of Happiness
[2] attached to them

Sing out, lament and shout out the absurdity
We foolish travelers, brimming with pre-destination, walking towards the Alegria of a rational world

I wish in my heart 地平に舞う
塵の様哀れな物

I wish to your heart 零れ落ちた
感情に藻掻く有様

I wish in my heart結び目から
瓦解せし希望と夢

I wish to your heart 記されてた
記録では得られない物

I wish in my heart 誰もいない
視界の中探す先

I wish to your heart 暗い影が
伏せた物が姿を見せた

I wish in my heart chihei ni mau
chiri no you aware na mono

I wish to your heart kobore ochita kanjou ni mogaku arisama

I wish in my heart musubime kara
gakai seshi kibou to yume

I wish to your heart shirusareteta kiroku de wa erarenai mono

I wish in my heart dare mo inai shikai no naka sagasu saki

I wish to your heart kurai kage ga fuseta mono ga sugata wo miseta

I wish in my heart —
A miniscule[3] , pitiable thing dancing on the flat earth[4]
I wish to your heart —
The spectacle[5] , writhing in emotions
scattered like blossoms
I wish in my heart —
Dreams and Hopes set to collapse from the knot
I wish to your heart —
The things you can’t get from written documents
I wish in my heart —
Before the things within my vision where no one else is
I wish to your heart —
Something laid down by a dark shadow showed it’s form

この身が果てても渇望する
約束されたフラグ
刻む時の物語行き着く先
黄昏に沈む鍵

慟哭が尽きる声を枯らし 答えのない深淵
君は愚かな旅人迷う先は 啓示的結末のアレグリア

kono mi ga hatete mo katsubou suru yakusoku sareta furagu
kizamu toki no monogatari ikitsuku saki tasogare ni shizumu kagi

doukoku ga tsukiru koe wo karashi kotae no nai shin’en
kimi wa oroka na tabibito mayou saki wa keijiteki ketsumatsu no areguria

I thirst for it, even if my body gives out, the promised flag[6]
The tale of an ascertained time
Of a key , fading away into twilight right before reaching it’s destination

A voice, fallowed by lamentation
An abyss that gives no answer
You are a foolish traveler
The moment before you lost your way
As if from the divine
An Alegria of a conclusion

遠い空の色赤く染まる いつか終わる永遠
誰もが求めたものが些事に変わる 幸せの定義付け

歌え不条理を嘆き叫ぶ 予定調和に満ちて
僕ら愚かな旅人歩む先は 合理的世界へのアレグリア

tooi sora no iro akaku somaru itsuka owaru eien
daremo ga motometa mono ga saji ni kawaru shiawase no teigi tsuke

utae fujouri wo nagekisakebu yotei chouwa ni michite
bokura oroka na tabibito ayumu saki wa gouriteki sekai he no areguria

The faraway sky will stain red
An eternity that will one day end
The things everyone searched for
change to trifles
With the definition of happiness attached

Sing out, grieve and scream out the absurdity
We foolish travelers, brimming with pre-destination, walking towards
the Alegria of a rational world

Translation notes:

[1] https://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Remilia_Scarlet
— Essentially her master controls fate and so the singer has no determination or free will in her life in practicality

[2] “Shiawase no Teigi tsuke” means “The definition of Bliss/Highest happiness attached” — it’s saying “We attach happiness to these things so they make us happy because we say they do”

[3] I didn’t notice until I listened that the original transcription I had was ‘wrong’ (it’s common to write on kanji and pronounce a totally different word) : the kanji can be read as “gomi” (which means ‘garbage’ or ‘refuse’, but she says ‘chiri’, which is a different reading, meaning “Dust” but also can mean:

“The kegare (impurity/uncleanliness) of everyday life and / or the city

I am still unsure how to create this double meaning of “dust/miniscule/irrelevant” and “the impurity that comes from everyday life” in English, as they are functionally synonyms in Japanese (sharing the Kanji)

[4] Searching for ” 地平” on it’s own gives me nothing but flat earth theory things in google images, but searching for  地平 意味 (meaning) gives me pictures of a single plane of a circle or of a horizon.

[5] Arisama means “Spectacle” or “Scene” but it itself means “state/condition/circumstances”

[6] A “Flag” in gaming/literary terms is “something that guarantees that something else will happen”

eg. in a dating sim saying the right words will trigger the ‘flag’ that locks you to a relationship or ‘story arc’
